What we see in Cocoa

Cocoa is home for us, and it is one of the older towns we work in: nearly half its homes were built before 1980.

In older homes, subterranean termites have had decades to find a way in: a crack in an aging slab, a stem wall, a wood door frame at ground level. Whatever termite treatment went in when the house was built wore off long ago. An inspection tells you where you stand.

Along the river and on the older tree-lined streets, American and smokybrown cockroaches are the most common call. Big oaks, palms, mulch beds and irrigation give them everything they need outside, and a worn door sweep lets them in. Roof rats use the same trees to reach the roof.

About a quarter of Cocoa's homes are in apartment buildings, where German cockroaches can travel between units through shared walls and plumbing. And Cocoa is building again: about one home in seven went up since 2010. New lawns and fresh mulch draw ghost ants and fire ants. We offer termite treatment for new, as well as older, homes in the area.
